3:00 p.m.		Other Tri-Institutional Events Designing Futures: Fiction to Scientific Reality and Back Futurist Monika Bielskyte and neurogeneticist Dr. Erich Jarvis will give a joint lecture about the feedback loop between SciFi cultural fictions and scientific research. The lecture will explore what it would take to establish a more productive relationship between the bleeding edge of science and the popular media that shapes the dominant future narratives for the general public. It will also address a growing anti-science and disinformation movement, and the urgent need to examine resilience strategies for effective science communication and information literacy.
